YesNoCovid.com applies for trademark registration at the USPTO

Covid-19 continues to affect the lives of billions around the globe; the operator of the domain YesNoCovid.com has applied for the registration of the matching trademark, YESNOCOVID.COM.

The mark is applied for medical testing, aiming to provide rapid and PCR Covid tests “in 10 minutes” and at “no cost to you.”

The application refers to April 1, 2021 as the date of first use of the mark. The domain was registered in November 2020.

Why was YESNOCOVID.COM applied for as a trademark at the USPTO?

It’s an ongoing trend among owners of domain names, following the decision by SCOTUS on the Booking.com trademark application.

Since then, dozens of generic domain names have been applied to be registered as trademarks, inclusive of the TLD.

As of January 5th, 2021, BOOKING.COM is a registered trademark with the USPTO.

Will these applications become the new norm? Watch this video from NamesCon Online 2020.
