#Domain name jargon : Domain Grifter

Let’s get back to one more edition of the amazing Domain Name Jargon series – an endless resource of information, a true thesaurus of terms and trivia related to domaining.

Name Jargon helps domain investors (re)define domaining and to define domain industry terms used in the past, and today.

Today’s Domain Name Jargon entry is below:

Domain Grifter: An entrepreneur, start-up founder, CEO, or other middle management executive with an elevated degree of self-entitlement with regards to domain names. Domain grifters bitch and moan about how their “fabulous idea” of a brand—a common dictionary word—cannot be freely registered as a .com for $10 dollars. Domain grifters often take to social media, such as Twitter, to publicly complain about their inability to comprehend one simple thing: they are too late to the domain name, it’s time to pay up or shut up.

Example: “Wow, I can’t believe that domain grifter Sahil who was found guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking is back again for a second round of UDRP whoop-ass!”
