Webfair Virtual 2014 was an one day virtual conference for domain investors, SEO specialists and web hosts; we covered the event extensively, before, during and reviewed it after it completed.
If you attended, that’s great; chances are that we bumped into each other at some point. Or rather, due to the code’s particulars, we might have walked right through each other; that took some effort to master!
If you didn’t attend this time, make sure you attend when the next show is announced.
Here are 10 things we personally gathered at Webfair Virtual 2014.
- Domainers love new technologies and this is a new method of engaging in business.
- People love to accurately define their avatars; give or take a few pixels, everyone we knew looked as in real life.
- Companies that participated as exhibitors put a great amount of effort designing and casting their booths.
- Initiating conversations was as easy as walking up to someone in real life and saying “Hi!”
- Participants felt the need for a physical common break, as in a bar or a lounge. It’s all psychological.
- Domain professionals like to share new product ideas across several media, eventually leading to the classic phonecall conversation.
- Some misconceptions and even former arguments were ironed out, even through this avatar projection contact.
- Being nice, polite, funny or serious is an extension of the real you; an avatar is only a digital projection of it.
- There are a lot of things to be learned and understood about the European, Asian and other markets outside of the dot .com universe and the US.
- The domain community loves DomainGang and we were overwhelmed by the kind comments, words of support and how almost 5 years of this “madness” is great for the industry.
Again, many thanks to the many, great people we had the pleasure of communicating with at Webfair Virtual 2014; hope to see you soon at an industry conference, and in person – although it won’t be as much fun not being able to teleport around. 😀
