Those in need of DVD or Blue-ray ripping software – for backup reasons – are mourning the demise of AnyDVD.
The popular software by SlySoft allowed the decryption of such media, a practice that is against the law in several countries, even for personal archiving purposes.
As of today, AnyDVD.com displays the message:
Closed. 🙁 Due to recent regulatory requirements we have had to cease all activities relating to SlySoft Inc.
We wish to thank our loyal customers/clients for their patronage over the years
SlySoft was based in Antigua, and the software firm had been targeted by the film industry for many years.
One wonders what will eventually happen to the popular domain, AnyDVD.com, registered in 1998, after it expires in August.
