With the demise of Megaupload after its alleged involvement in organized software and media piracy, one after another such online file repositories are changing their modus operandi.
The most extreme action has been taken by Germany-owned Uploaded.to – which uses the Toga ccTLD as a vanity domain.
Uploaded.to simply blocks all IP addresses originating in the USA!
Other filesharing websites that altered their functionality or even shut down serves, include:
- Filesonic: Now only account owners can download the files they uploaded.
- Fileserve: No third party downloads; illegal files are being deleted en masse.
- Filejungle: Ending all affiliate programs that rewarded members that uploaded files.
- UploadBox: Closing down.
- X7: Closing down.
Looks like Rapidshare is blocking US users, too: Rapidshare down in the US?
This is MEGA!
