We thought we’ve seen it all with regards to the ingenuity of Complainants attempting to wrestle generic domain names away from their owners.
In a case involving the domain names Bleachstains.com and CarpetBleachStains.com, an individual with an obscure claim to a patent and vague claims to a common law trademark, tried to take the owner of these domains to the proverbial cleaners.
Let alone that the Respondent is in the carpet cleaning business themselves and operate a full-service carpet cleaning business. They failed to respond to the UDRP, however.
Luckily, Harrie R. Samaras, the sole panelist decided that the dirt allegedly swept under the carpet was no evidence of any malicious intent by the Respondent, and ordered both domains to remain with their registrant.
