In a rather unexpected twist, the Wikileaks whistleblower, Bradley Manning, has announced his official new name: Chelsea Manning.
Apparently, the disgraced former member of the military who was recently sentenced to 35 years in jail, will be commencing hormone therapy in order to proceed with a gender change.
This decision and announcement, not only complicates the process of his incarceration, but it comes as a shock to the operators of the web site BradleyManning.com – a web site built to support Bradley Manning.
It seems that ChelseaManning.com has been registered for a while now, and while we would not advise anyone to visit the web site as Google produces a security and malware alert, WHOIS information is safe to peruse at DomainTools.
A new twitter hash-tag, #FreeChelsea is on the rise; at the same time, FreeChelsea.com has nothing to do with the sentenced former military.
What a mess!
The American people are already split in how severely Bradley Manning’s role in leaking thousands of top secret information about the US military operations should be punished; it goes without saying that conservative America will treat his name and gender change to Chelsea Manning with “shock and awe” as well.
