#Chinese #domain market report : One person controls 1.379 billion citizens

China operates on a distinct “Communist Capitalism” model, with the economy structured on top of an amalgam of ethics and culture.

Don’t be fooled though; in the end, one person, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, runs the show.

Currently, Xi Jinping is also the President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission. With recent changes to the constitution, Xi Jinping’s rule will continue without any time limit, running the show for all 1.379 billion Chinese, for years to come.

China’s domain investors have been trading fewer domains than last year, it seems.

During the past 18 months, a substantial investment leak to cryptocurrencies has contributed to a considerably smaller volume of domain names being traded, and at a much lower average price.

The golden days of “Chinese letter” LLLL’s are gone.

We keep track of short domains, between 1 to 4 characters in length, that change hands in China, for the .COM, .CN and .NET TLDs.

Current average prices for “Chinese quad premium” LLLL .com domains hover just above $900 dollars on NameJet, with GoDaddy achieving some higher sales. There is the occasional “peak” into four figures, but it’s becoming more rare.
