Coffee .CLUB magnate, Bill McClure, put trust and faith to his domain registrar, only to discover that a premium .com dropped and expired.
McClure watched in disbelief as PlanningAhead.com, a domain he spent between $6,000 and $7,000 to acquire a few years ago, expired and landed in the hands of a friend who had previously shown interest in the domain:
“He ask if I would sell this domain and what was the price. I priced it at $10K. I told him I paid 6 or 7K a few years ago. I did not know we that we were not getting emails for renewal. I responded that we were in the industry and did not think this was the time to sell it. A few emails late, he said that he did not want to pay this amount. He back ordered the domain. Obvious, he knew it was on auction and dropper. We lost it on Dec. 26.“
Apparently, the new owner of PlanningAhead.com also owns the super-premium domain, Cremation.com.
Bill McClure is shell-shocked by the way he lost his domain – to a friend, no less.
What would you do?

Nobody else back ordered this domain, it was just a simple catch, can’t see that happening?
Tom – Looks like it was an expired domain sale on GoDaddy, the owner has 7 days to renew. That window has now passed.
Yes, I see it sold for $5000 in 2012, and $765 2 weeks ago, sad story considering this person is his friend.
“put trust and faith to his domain registrar, only to discover that a premium .com dropped and expired”
That sucks, but why is it the registrar’s fault if he let the domain expire and how did he ignore all the emails about the domain’s impending expiration?
Peter – As Forest Gump said, “shit happens.”
Strange one indeed, ,,,,, “hey friend i’ve backordered your name, hope you drop it, then we’ll have drinks?”
Because I know Bill I would of gave it back to him!!
