Last year, we noted how Russian arms manufacturer, Kalashnikov, was branching into fashion.
That news, led us to discover that the domain Kalashnikov.com was in the possession of Ashanti PLC, a Hong Kong corporation.
Fast forward to news about how Kalashnikov plans to seek registration of its brand and trademarks in the US and Europe, to effectively protect its rights in foreign markets. In December 2016, Kalashnikov had its trademarks Kalashnikov and AK-47 registered in China.
We checked Kalashnikov.com and it’s now owned and operated by the Russian arms manufacturer.
The domain changed hands on June 3rd, 2016 – or a little over two weeks after our previous coverage of Kalashnikov.com.
Coincidence? We don’t think so! 😀
There is no indication about how much the domain could have sold, but knowing how Ashanti PLC prices their domains, we’d say high six figures, and the sale probably completed via eNaming.com.
