An interesting article by Jeff Roberts, staff writer at Paid Content brings some material information forward about the alleged misuse of seized domain names.
Apparently, the Federal government and the ICE agency has been seizing domain names related to counterfeit goods; then it places its own anti-piracy propaganda videos on them.
The videos attempt to blame the loss of US jobs to piracy, a rather questionable statement.
It seems that this action is conflicting with the so-called civil forfeiture provisions of the US Code, which require that seized property must either be sold or destroyed!
In other words, the Federal government must either sell, auction or otherwise safely end the life of the seized domain names, adding to the controversy of whether it was rightful to seize them in the first place.
