While stopped at a red light (safety first) we came across a corporate van of Express Parts Inc., a Miami-based provider of aftermarket parts for vehicles.
The company operates from the domain name OnlineExpressParts.com with the URL being partially obscured by a missing gas tank lid, as seen below:
Here is a closer look: 🙂
There are some issues with the van’s dress, including the metal “spikes” set as the overall background that distract from the text. The company’s use of a stylized font for the name does not help either.
To top it off, the domain name OnlineExpressParts.com is parked with GoDaddy ads!
We did find out that orders.OnlineExpressParts.com works, pointing to a form to fill out with your information. Bottom line: Your domain should not be obscured by movable parts, such as doors and other openings.
What’s a “domain sighting,” you may ask.
It’s when we encounter domain names in the real world, that appear on vehicle wraps and signs, billboards and business signs, and product packaging. For convenience, we group them into .com domain sightings, and other ccTLDs, gTLDs and TLDs.
Its simply absurd their site is parked! I bet they dont even know it. I see companies making similar mistakes quite often putting their companies domain name in obscured areas on vehicles. BTW…those aren’t metal spikes…the pattern is called diamond plate…
