The re-spawn of the controversial domain Ebola.com has gone live, roughly two weeks after its sale completed for a combination of cash and “weed stock.”
Ebola.com features a scary-looking logo, that incorporates the lengthy Ebola virus strand in a tacky, worm-like representation.
The words “Supports Doctors Without Borders” appear prominently under the logo, as a reminder that it’s not all about making money off a global scare; for that matter, they might as well add some mistletoe for the holidays.
Colors clash in a garish lack of harmony, accentuating the bloody reds with medical emergency cyan tints; the Google ads on the right will ensure the site’s monetization for years to come, or at least until a cure for Ebola is found – hopefully not too long from now.
The new owners are promoting their own agenda of anti-Ebola defense kits that range from natural remedy ideas to smoking cannabis as a cure. Ebola.com is their sandbox, after all, and they can do as they please with it.
Overall, the end result is an unbalanced cross between an informative, government-wannabe portal about Ebola, and a platform to promote fringe ideas and “420” remedies related to the deadly virus.
Take it or leave it, at Ebola.com.
Don’t see a doctor when you feel you are infected with Ebola. Rather, see your local dealer. You’ll survive, trust me.
