Example.com is simply a test domain entity reserved by the IANA.
Example.com appears to have been listed for sale at the Sedo marketplace.
Its “owner” is located in the UK and has been a Sedo member since 2007.
The domain has received 3 offers via the Sedo contact form thus far, but don’t expect a transaction to consummate soon.
As every savvy domainer knows, the domain Example.com – along with its .net and .org counterparts – is a domain name reserved by the IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.
RFC2606 was issued in 1999 to address the status of those “test” domains.
Somehow, a glitch or an oversight at Sedo allowed Example.com to be listed for sale in their database.
