Frank Schilling’s #Uniregistry is now Uni Naming & Registry!

Big news from Uniregistry, Frank Schilling’s company that manages the new gTLDs, after other parts of the company were sold to GoDaddy.

We uncovered that Uniregistry – Uni for short – began using the three letter domain, At the same time, Uniregistry hired Shayan Rostam as new Chief Growth Officer of UNR.

The company’s official new name is Uni Naming & Registry, operating from the highly brandable and memorable three letter domain name,

The brand move makes complete sense, as GoDaddy now owns “Uniregistry” and it’d be confusing to have a new and an old company using the same brand.

Congratulations to Frank Schilling for this bold move into a new, dynamic territory! 😀 – Uni Naming & Registry

Still confusing. How many brand name changes are they going to keep doing? Sheesh. Hire someone that knows something about branding.

  2. DomainGang says:

Matt – The new brand makes more sense now. It’s an exact acronym (UNR) versus a chopped version e.g. Logitech rebranding to Logi.

  3. Trent says:

Frank is awesome, but have to agree with Matt, great domain name; but they are forcing the domain into a horrible brand that makes no sense, and will not resonate outside a small circle.

  4. DomainGang says:

Trent – I’m sure they have everything else planned out, I simply reported on the name change. Can’t be worse than calling your company “GoDaddy!”

  5. Trent says:

I like Godaddy over Uni Naming & Registry,

  6. Paul says:

I laughed when he called a registrar Uni”registry” and he managed to turn that into a payday in spite of my doubts. I actually like the name Uniregistry now. It grew on me.
