#GetEmails LLC rebrands as Retention.com, applies for #trademark registration

GetEmails LLC, a software company formed in Austin, Texas in 2019, has rebranded to Retention, operating from the domain name Retention.com.

Previously, the company operated from the domain name GetEmails.com, which now forwards to Retention.com as part of the company’s domain rebranding, courtesy of the CEO, Adam Robinson.

The domain was acquired from its prior owner as recently as in late August 2022. WHOIS changes show that, along with a double trademark application filed by the company GetEmails LLC at the USPTO.

The application for the registration of the mark RETENTION.COM (text) cites August 2022 as the date of first use of the mark in commerce. A second application involves a graphic image with Retention.com as the primary text and for the following services:

Data automation and collection service using proprietary software to evaluate, analyze and collect service data; Providing a web site featuring technology that enables users to identify, target, collect, store, track, exchange and organize information and data; Providing a web site featuring technology that enables users to organize and manage postmarked emails and SMS messages; Providing a web site featuring technology that enables users to identify, target, and connect consumers for advertising and marketing purposes; Providing a website that features technology that enables the secure exchange of information by users; Software as a service (SAAS) services featuring software for identifying, targeting, collecting, storing, tracking, exchanging and organizing information and data; Software as a service (SAAS) services featuring software for identifying, targeting and connecting consumers for advertising and marketing purposes; Software as a service (SAAS) services, namely, hosting software for use by others for identifying, targeting, collecting, storing, tracking, exchanging and organizing information and data; Software as a service (SAAS) services, namely, hosting software for use by others for identifying, targeting and connecting consumers for advertising and marketing purposes.

Acquiring a domain such as Retention.com is not cheap and we expect the domain’s acquisition to have cost low to mid six figures USD.

There are no records of its sale on NameBio.

Update 8/8/2023: As noted by Adam Robinson, CEO of Retention, the company spent $800,000 dollars to acquire the domain name.

As of July 7, 2023, the company’s trademark registration application’s status carries a refusal due to a) descriptiveness and b) a prior-filed application (97429158) that is pending.
