A GoDaddy user is getting ready to sue the biggest domain registrar in the world, reportedly for millions of dollars.
The reason?
Physical injury sustained while wading through dozens of pages in order to renew or order domain services.
“My fingers are hurting like a person with arthritis and I’m only 29 years old,” said Nick Jones of Champaign, Illinois.
“Imagine how many times I had to scroll, check boxes, click ‘no thanks’ and strain my eyes in order to avoid being trapped into buying extra services I didn’t want at GoDaddy.com,” added Jones with a face full of pain.
GoDaddy is notorious for making users jump through hoops when ordering or renewing domain names, by offering extra services such as email, hosting, secure certificates and other such unnecessary junk. If one needs to update several domains, this adds up to dozens of clicks and people predisposed to physical activity can hurt their muscles and joints.
“All I want is to renew my damn domain with a single click; checking one box and hitting submit. Is it too much to ask, GoDaddy?” said Nick Jones, finger-typing a letter to his lawyer.
The potential lawsuit aims to set a precedent for “cruel treatment of domainers” among other claims and requests for damages incurred.
“29 years old,” said Nick Jones of Champaign, Illinois.”
