“Godaddy is the worst registrar ever !!!!”
This is the title of a post by a visibly dejected DNForum member, who shares his experience with a recent expired domain auction that he won at GoDaddy.
After jumping through hoops and providing payment of $28,000 for the domain, having his account locked and his personal IDs scanned and emailed, the buyer discovered the following morning that the auction was null and void.
The reason: the seller simply renewed the domain.
GoDaddy casually auctions off domains, collecting full payment; the domain owners have 7 days to renew their domains, thus reversing the results of an auction. GoDaddy then reimburses the payment to the auction’s winner, costing them precious time at a minimum. They need to end this practice and only auction off domains that cannot be reclaimed.
The full post is right here.
Worst registrar for years now.
Good luck changing their minds…
He should contact the owner if possible, as some people renew hoping to avoid paying GoDaddy a commision, and complete the deal through Escrow.com
Alan – Some domain owners use this technique to ping the public for what the domain could potentially sell, then renew the domain during the 7 day window.

I have been complaining about this for years–to no avail.
But it is what it is; some great expiring domains go up for sale–some of them cheap–so we can either accept it or go somewhere else.

Ms Domainer – It’s definitely shocking seeing larger amounts being involved, as if it weren’t bad enough with auctions in the sub-$500 range. This game of speculation apparently generates a healthy profit.
i wonder what the name was 🙂
