The premium domain Teletherapists.com was sold via GoDaddy on February 5th. At the time, the domain was not expired so we can assume it was sold on the Afternic platform. The domain was transferred to the buyer’s account with GoDaddy almost two months later, on March 31st, following the buyer’s support request.
Almost two months later, on May 21st, the domain’s sale was nullified by GoDaddy, citing “lack of rights by the seller to transfer the domain.” The payment was reversed, says domain investor Ken Lin whose friend acquired it; GoDaddy did not disclose any other information.
WHOIS records show that the the transfer added two extra years to the domain’s expiration date but the most important part seems to be that the domain Teletherapists.com is forwarded to FindATherapist.com, an actual, working web site.
The latter is registered with Name.com. Could it be that an unauthorized party attempted to hijack Teletherapists.com and sell it on GoDaddy’s Afternic?
It’s quite possible, given the fact that the active web site’s uptime was never affected.
If the owners found out about that activity later on, then the domain’s transfer reversal was justified. Either way, GoDaddy needs to improve its domain verification process for listings on the Afternic platform.
According to NameBio, Teletherapists.com was sold for $1,004 dollars in 2023.
