Google has been buying “alphabet” related domains left and right.
Starting with the acquisition of ABC.XYZ, the search engine monolith created a separate mother company, Alphabet, Inc.
This move did not sit well with Alphabet.com owners, German automaker BMW.
The recent purchase by Google of the domain ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ.com wasn’t a surprise, but it’s expected to intensify any existing friction with BMW.
Apparently, BMW wants three letters removed from this newly-acquired Google domain.
“German ingenuity in automotive manufacturing has existed for more than 100 years, and we take pride in the BMW brand, name and alphabet letters,” said Klaus Heinz Baumeister, general marketing manager for BMW in Munich, Germany.
“What Google is doing is unconscionable, they should remove the letters B, M and W from their new alphabet domains immediately!” exclaimed Baumeister.
The BMW statement over their famous brand might lead to the registration of the domain ACDEFGHIJKLNOPQRSTUVXYZ.com by Google, as an alternative solution to its Alphabet, Inc. mega-corporation.
We will share any new updates when that happens.
