With Verisign raising prices for the .COM and .NET domains, domaining turned more expensive for thousands of domainers.
“I hate what they did, with a passion”, said Jonas Brik, a domainer from Boston.
“Verisign constantly takes my weekly allowance money and pays database admins in Lahore, Pakistan! I now have to ask my father to increase my allowance!”, added Brik.
Dozens of ICANN accredited registrars raised their prices for their customers, but there is one private registrar that did not.
I.net, the domain registrar of Future Media Architects, operated by uber-domainer Elequa, kept prices at the same levels.
“Why cheat myself and increase prices? Everything was left the same as before, God willing”, said Elequa, while painting his latest creation in Monte Carlo. “Life is too short to be concerned about money, art is all that matters”, added the Kuwaiti uber-domainer, while starting up his Maserati GranCabrio.
While Elequa can afford not to raise prices, GoDaddy will continue well into 2012 to offer its customers glimpses of buxom and leggy models to make up for the hefty price increases.
