After being unsuccessful at passing the ball to FTC about the dot .Sucks gTLD, ICANN is determined to come to a mutually agreeable launch with its Registry.
Hours after the FTC chairwoman Edith Ramirez declined to sanction the agency’s direct involvement in the debate, ICANN delivered a new process.
“We’re resorting to the oldest and most fair process in the book of decision-making, that will hopefully satisfy all parties involved,” said the ICANN CEO, Fadi Chehadé.
“Under the global provisions of the multi-steakholder model, all decisions will be made by assigning a match to every option, and picking one at random; the shortest matchstick will win,”added Fadi Chehadé, looking very serious.
By assigning to fate such important decisions regarding the future of gTLDs and the Internet as a whole, ICANN is confident that no more collisions will occur in the domain industry.
“Dot .Sucks operates on a valid business model and we want to emphasize its option to succeed as part of the global community,” said Harold F. Gartenmeyer.
“Why involve lawyers when a simple draw of sticks can make whichever direction we’ll take appear equally random and fate-driven,” added Gartenmeyer.
The drawing of the matchsticks will occur sometime in June, so stay tuned. Alternatively, read about the availability of dot .Blows.
