Copilot key: Matching .com domain already for sale at Dan

A year ago, Microsoft announced the introduction of Copilot, a chatbot and a built-in feature for Microsoft Bing and Microsoft Edge. Based on a large language model (LLM), it is a replacement for the discontinued Cortana.

A year later, the proliferation of AI chatbots able to perform tasks is taken by Microsoft to the next level: The Copilot key.

What the heck is that, you might wonder.

Soon, keyboards designed for PCs will carry the new Copilot key, instead of the well-known but aged Menu key, on the right side of the PC keyboard.

The introduction of the Copilot key marks the first significant change to the Windows PC keyboard in nearly three decades. According to Microsoft, the Copilot key joins the Windows key as a core part of the PC keyboard and when pressed, the new key will invoke the Copilot in Windows experience to make it seamless to engage Copilot.

With all this in mind, an enterprising Chinese domainer grabbed the domain name CopilotKey.com; it’s already up for sale on Dan.com for the price of $9,000 dollars. If he sells it to Microsoft, it’d be the most expensive keyboard button ever! 🙂

While the domain Copilot.com is owned and operated by a company unrelated to Microsoft, the domain MicrosoftCopilot.com—a clear act of cybersquatting—is listed for sale on Afternic with a $50,000 dollar price tag.
