Most Americans believe that Iran is a locale safe from any and all international laws; while politics have created a coating of instability in the region, the law does apply.
That was the case with a UDRP filed by Giorgio Armani, the famous Italian clothing firm, against the registrant of the domain name GiorgioArmani.ir.
Dot .ir is the ccTLD for Iran, and the case was decided at the WIPO which is based in Switzerland.
The registrant did not respond to the complaint and the domain was handed over to the Complainant.
It’s interesting to note that the same registrant, Hessamaldin Varposjty, also lost a UDRP for the domain DrMartens.ir last year. Do you see a pattern there?
