A Hawaiian woman’s unusually long last name is giving her some grief, after being unable to register it with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Just like a nightmare tech scenario reminiscent of the Y2K era, the DMV only provides space for 32 letters.
Janice Lokelani Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele wasn’t phased by this limitation, and promptly caused some media awareness that will motivate the “wizards” of the Hawaiian DMV IT department to upgrade their system.
Meanwhile, the domain name Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele.com has just been registered, what with all the attention that Lokelani Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele’s name has brought! 😀
At 36 35 characters long, it fits fine within the 63 character limit that domain names provide – yet far too long to be of any memorable use.
Try fitting that on a business card! 😀
There are 35 (not 36) letters in her name and 34 (not 32) on the drivers license. 😉
Thanks pb. You must be working for the Hawaii DMV. 😀
Hah, I wish, I’m in a much colder place right now. 😉
