Lawyers provide important professional advice to domain owners during UDRP cases, but what happens when they are involved in one as the Respondent?
In a case adjudicated by the National Arbitration Forum, the domain YourLawyerFL.com was found to be violating the trademarks of a New York based law office, Parker Waichman LLP.
The Respondent is a small, three-attorney firm with its primary offices in North Florida, and they are using YourLawyerFL.com for their law firm.
The problem is, the Complainant owns trademarks for YourLawyer and YourLawyer.com and felt that the Respondent’s use of the domain was causing confusion.
It’s definitely embarrassing for a law firm to lose their very own domain in a UDRP, but that’s what a three member panel at the NAF decided.
