Mary Lou Kayser is a business coach and speaker, with a podcast to boot.
When ICANN announced their master plan to expand the Internet name space in 2012, she wrote an insightful article about the so-called “vanity domain names.”
Brushing aside the worries of skeptics fearing an increase in phishing, scams and other nefarious activity, Mary Lou Kayser agrees that “dot Mary Lou has a nice ring to it,” despite the $185,000 price tag to own a custom gTLD.
Regarding the future of gTLDs, she concludes thus:
“And, if history teaches us anything, the price tag of vanity domain names will eventually drop as the initial round of buyers scoop up their choices. The pickings will be slimmer, but last I checked the creative spirit is alive and well, giving those with inspiration a chance to get something that makes us feel special and happy.”
