Leveraging the constant drop in dot .com domain values, Bill Sweetman, president of Name Ninja announced the immediate rollout of the premium gTLD extension, .RobFord.
“It’s time to stop the .com gravy train and offer an affordable domain name for the common man,” said Name Ninja President Bill Sweetman, a respected domain name expert.
“Few Canadian companies stepped up to participate in ICANN’s new Top-Level Domain (TLD) program and offer creative alternatives to the established .com, .net, and .ca domains. We recognized an opportunity and decided to seize it,” Sweetman proudly declared.
Featuring the tagline “the domain that will crack you up,” the bold new .RobFord domain extension is expected to be popular with sports fans, comedians, and anyone under the influence. For the first time ever, consumers will be able to acquire memorable and descriptive domain names like Video.RobFord, Follow.RobFord, and PartyLike.RobFord.
“Why register a boring .com domain name when you can get a Web address that instantly sets you apart from the crowd,” adds Sweetman.

You joke, but do you think that a time will come when registering a dot anything will be as easy as registering a regular domain name?

Ms Domainer – The future is now, just create an account with Uniregistry.com 😀

I do have an account — I should browse the site.
I guess I wasn’t clear. I meant, do you think that registering one’s own gTLD string, such as .DomainGang or .MsDomainer will be as easy as registering a regular domain name?

Thanks
Ms Domainer – Hmm, I don’t believe so, there are plenty of technical reasons that such a process won’t be happening. First and foremost: ICANN makes money out of each such gTLD, so they want to keep things ‘difficult’ and in order. Second, a lot of issues would ensue if you could register a gTLD on the spot.
I believe that eventually we’ll be done with domains altogether and a different form of locating something in cyberspace will be used. Maybe that’s why Facebook bought Oculus! 😀

Thanks for your interesting take.
For a while, I thought apps might be a mechanism for killing the domain name space…
Very disruptive times! (A tech standpoint)

Hi There, My domains have been selling at high prices, and more than ever. I only have dot. coms and do not plan on buying any other extension.
Mary Jo – You clearly need a dot .Guru then 😀
