A few days ago, Network Solutions sent out a number of emails related to domain transfer requests.
At first, we thought there was some sort of malicious account compromise, or that the emails were part of a phishing campaign.
The emails, however, were legitimate, but they were about domain transfers that occurred months prior.
In most cases, those domains were already transferred out to other registrars.
So what happened?
Network Solutions sent out an update about the incident:
Notice of Communication Error
Dear Network Solutions Customer,
Last week you received a transfer request notification from Network Solutions. Due to a glitch in our system that is now fixed, previous transfer requests were held and sent out on a delay. Please be advised that your transfer has been completed as requested.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the opportunity to serve you. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us at 1-888-642-0209.
Sincerely,

Ironically, we recently created a domainer comic with that very subject! 😀
Network solutions is the worst.
They have, by far, the most painfully slow and tedious unlock/transfer out process i’ve ever seen. I also still have about 10 domains in my account that were transferred to other registrars, one was sold and transferred over a year ago, And I STILL get emails from them about those domains to “renew now!”
It is no surprise why they have the 2nd highest attrition rate out of any registrar.
