Another great non-COM domain has been added to the expanding roster of sightings; our very own Maxwell, spotted this elusive dot .ROCKS domain.
While traveling in Austria, Maxwell could not miss the promotion at a Vienna McDonald’s.
When one visits BigMac.Rocks, they are forwarded to a special promotion by McDonald’s in Austria, to enter codes that are given on ‘arm bands’ provided with meals.
It’s another example displaying the manifestation of brands using gTLD domains, to create and promote products or services – or, as in this case, competitions.
Many thanks to Maxwell who spotted this great non-COM sighting! 😀
the real domain BigMacRocks.com is still available… just to show how meaningless the new gtld’s really are.
RaTHeaD – No doubt, you sound more of a Burger King guy!
RaTHead — somehow your comment missed the real point. Having a choice for .com and selecting .rocks is a sign of preference for new gTLDs, not meaninglessness. It’s not too surprising actually — it is shorter, punchier and frankly, more interesting than other options.
