Life just isn’t fair.
The student who sold the domain Porno.com to Rick Schwartz in 1997 for $42,000 is now an unemployed engineer, struggling under the current bout of bad economy as a homeless man.
Eighteen years ago, Lawrence Morgan “mad dog” Jones was a promising college student that researched the Internet as a pastime.
He blames his downfall on his sudden fortune, after selling Porno.com to the Domain King.
“I was young and foolish, with that $42 grand I went out and partied hard, did drugs, gave money to the church and slept with several dozen women,” says Lawrence Morgan Jones, picking cigarette butts at the park.
“Getting so much money at once made me lose focus, I flunked college and moved in with my parents after losing every penny of it. What a disaster, I wish I hadn’t sold that domain!” exclaims Jones.
In the years that followed, Jones attempted to flip other domain names for big bucks, but was rather unfortunate as a car accident forced him to sell them all to cover insurance costs and medical bills.
Now 37, Jones says he stopped dealing with domain names in 2004.
“I joined the marines and went to Iraq for two combat missions, had to kill people and witnessed unimaginable atrocities by the Taliban. I’d go back to fight if I were drafted, but I’d never mess with domain names ever again, no sir!” says Lawrence Morgan Jones, shaking his head.

Step up Rick and help this veteran out-this is your time. Not money-find him a job. If you don’t it says something about your character but my guess is you will from what I’ve heard of you. Semper fi USMC
John – People make financial management mistakes every day. It’s not Rick’s obligation to help.
Drek. I forgot to check the bottom of the page. I also don’t read the About Us page. And I use a different username with every post. Drek.
Of course, people can be deceiving and he might be a millionaire: http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/05/us/vermont-frugal-man-donates-millions/index.html
If I were Rick (which im not) I would offer to buy the man a 500k home.
If he does, the news would spread to all big online news papers and Rick would be considered not only the domain king but also a very good person!
DG-I understand it’s not Rick’s obligation to help this veteran-it’s just the right thing to do. Thank you for your reply.
Did the same guy sell 360.com to Vodafone for $800 ??
