Among the famous marks in this consumer-driven world, is Pyrex – a brand of tampered glass that can sustain high temperatures and force.
The UDRP against the domain Pyrex.Glass was filed by the trademark holders, Corning Incorporated, at the National Arbitration Forum.
It is noted that “Pyrex” was registered with the USPTO in 1917 and it involves glass.
The Registrant of Pyrex.glass was therefore not quite thinking when they registered it and put it up for sale on Sedo for $499.
Or did they?
There is a strange disclaimer on that “For sale” page, that states: “THIS DOMAIN IS OWNED BY CORNING PYREX !!! THEY OWN THE TRADEMARK !!! DON’T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING THIS DOMAIN !!!”
Most likely the Registrant and Respondent in this case edited the Sedo listing, after the sole panelist, Karl V. Fink, ordered the domain Pyrex.Glass to be transferred to the Complainant.
