QR codes are meant to be scanned by smart phones.
The two letter dot com domain QR.com was initially listed as sold at Domainfest in Santa Monica; the shock came a little later, as it was revealed that the highest bidder thought he was bidding on the next lot, for 12.com
Embarrassing as it may seem, these things do happen and there are provisions in place for nullifying such transactions without much pain on behalf of the buyer.
For the seller, however, that’s another story.
The domain name QR.com “sold” on paper for $325,000 – definitely a lot more than the asking price of $250,000.
But that’s not all; the domain QR.com was sold in 2004 on DNForum, for a mere $16,000!
To show how much domain prices have appreciated since then, the going rate for LLL .com domains in 2004 was between $500 to $2,000; a small fraction of today’s price range.
Surely the seller needs to focus on getting end-user buyers for QR.com – by all means, a top notch LL .com with plenty of applications in the QR code industry.

Ouch! At least QR.com got some good press and maybe another buyer will step up. QR codes seem like they’re everywhere these days. Did 325k meet the reserve for 12.com?
Domains – The $325k price would not meet the reserve for 12.com which was set at double as much, if I recall correctly.
Sometimes luck is also needed..!
And when it comes to domain flipping..it works.
