For years, Rage.com had been an active, developed community and video placeholder for extreme sports fans.
Its sale in June of 2010 on Sedo for one dollar short of $50,000 was definitely noteworthy. The seller is a DNForum member who prefers to keep a low profile on his achievements.
The buyer was id Software – the software developer of such classic games as Doom, Quake and Wolfestein.
ZeniMax Media, parent company of developer Bethesda Softworks acquired ID Software a year prior to the acquisition of Rage.com on Sedo.
For the past 4 years, id Software has been developing RAGE – a first person shoot them up with astonishing graphics and gameplay.
RAGE is a groundbreaking first-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. You emerge into this vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as bandit gangs, mutants, and the Authority – an oppressive government regime.
