Domain investors of a higher caliber, like Rick Schwartz, define their business model long term.
By visiting DomainKing.com, Rick Schwartz’s primary domain portfolio web site, one can realize the extent and reach – long term – of his investments, and his 20 year business plan.
In fact, it was the latter’s completion, that led Rick to a temporary retirement at the end of the last TRAFFIC in 2014: his business goals were achieved.
Of course, Rick Schwartz returned to active domain industry interaction, via his verified Twitter account.
Rick’s self definition role of being a “domain entrepreneur” is thus accurate, and the term was present at his Wikipedia entry – until someone from an IP in Lithuania changed it!
Let’s back up a bit.
When searching for Rick Schwartz on Wikipedia, he’s placed below the famous film director by the same name; Rick’s entry is accompanied by the term “domainer” as is the URL of his page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Schwartz_(domainer)
In recent days, someone from an IP in Vilkaviskis, Lithuania, edited the description of Rick Schwartz’s title, from “domain entrepreneur” to “domain speculator.”
In doing so, the anonymous Wikipedia contributor tagged the changes with the words “the true colors.” That recent edit was performed from a mobile device, which in our opinion, indicates spontaneous intent to change something.
While the term “domain speculator” has its own Wikipedia definition, redirecting the “domainer” entry, we aren’t sure if the title accurately defines Rick Schwartz’s established range of domain related activities, including that of a large domain conference founder.
What do you think? 😀

I consider Rick an entrepreneur. Domain investing (whatever terms we use) is unlike almost any other business – a little bit a new paradigm just like the internet. In some instances, it’s more akin to investing in rare collectibles. Speculation is certainly involved, but that’s common to all types of investing. Speculation is not a bad word either although domainers are often presented as somehow engaging in an illegitimate enterprise. Holding that view is an indication of one’s ignorance or envy.
As a side note, while I like Wikipedia, it is subject to any malcontent editing and re-editing to “steer” information toward their own personal viewpoint. Unfortunately, goes on a lot at Wikipedia.
M.Menius – Great points overall. Since the sharing of this news, more was added to the Wikipedia article.

Considering he has managed to acquire ongoing income from some his sales i would say he goes under more than title
“one title”
