Yahoo is restructuring its digital assets and pulling the plug on a number of online products, including AltaVista.
Once the search engine of choice, AltaVista launched in 1995, the early days of commercial Internet. Here is the earliest archived page from 1996 at Archive.org.
AltaVista is being retired on July 8th, 2013, barely 18 years of age. 🙁
