Robert Scoble gets domain back after expired Scobleizer.com sells for $27,000

The domain name Scobleizer.com is run by Robert Scoble, a well-known American blogger, technical evangelist, and author.

Scoble is recognized for his insights on technology, startups, and the tech industry’s trends. He gained significant attention during his tenure at Microsoft as a technical evangelist and later through his work at various tech companies and ventures.

Naturally, his blog, Scobleizer, has been a platform for sharing his thoughts, interviews, and analyses on emerging technologies and innovations.

Things went wrong once Robert Scoble’s credit card at GoDaddy expired, however. There was no alerts to that and in March his domain expired and a few weeks later it went into one of many daily GoDaddy auctions.

Someone actually pulled the trigger at the ensuing auction, acquiring the domain Scobleizer.com for $27,000 dollars per NameBio. Robert Scoble shared his plight on Twitter/X asking for help. That post has since been deleted.

It seems that GoDaddy management agreed to forego the auction’s proceeds and refunded the unknown winner of the domain’s auction; Robert Scoble received his domain back and he’s rather happy for that.

Moral of the story: Renew your precious domain names for up to 10 years at a time and always ensure that your credit card at the registrar is valid.
