News of the announcement by Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, that Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin will be his running mate in the 2012 presidential race, took us to the obvious destination: the dot com.
The domain name RomneyRyan.com was registered in 2010, a remarkably wild guess for someone that does not appear to be affiliated with the Republican party.
So is this an official ticket domain, or simply the fruit of a domain speculator’s research?
According to top WHOIS tool, DomainTools, the registrant of Romney appears to have registered a variety of domain names, consistent with the behavior of a domain investor, versus that of a political advisor:
- 133 Current Domains
- 53 .coms
- 3 .nets
- 10 other gTLDs
- 67 ccTLDs
If one checks closely, however, the domain RomneyRyan.com actually frames the content of MittRomney.com:
<frameset rows=”100%,*” border=”0″>
<frame src=”http://www.mittromney.com” frameborder=”0″ />
<frame frameborder=”0″ noresize />
</frameset>
Definitely a quick and dirty way to give the impression that the domain and web site are somehow endorsing the Romney-Ryan Republican ticket.
Another giveaway is that the domain is listed for sale on Sedo.
Would the Mitt Romney campaign wizards attempt to buy it? We shall see. 😀
What a lovely story.
Frankly, they should redirect to http://www.WhiteHouse.gov right now since they are exuding with confidence at this very moment.
And everyone thought John Edwards had nice hair. HA! Check out these GOP hunks!
RomneyRyan.com was sold as it forwards to the Romney website. The price paid is anyone’s guess.
Oddly, RomneyRyan2012.com is still parked.
Alan – RomneyRyan.com is not sold. Still with its original registrant. As I explained, it does not forward, it pulls in MittRomney.com in a frame.
Thank you, I stand corrected…………
