Despite documentation that connects the ICANN TAS Labs to alien life research facility, Area 51, there was a surprise in the gTLD bucket released by ICANN.
No .ufo or .area51 gTLDs were applied for, but is this what really happened?
“We cannot and won’t comment on gTLD matters while the allocation of the top level domains is pending,” said outgoing ICANN CEO, Rod Beckstrom.
“Some folks want to believe, but this is not the X-files!” he added, looking rather flustered from the weeks of wait.
Several other expected gTLDs were missing from the list, such as .penis and .vagina – two gTLDs that would span the entire population of the Internet.
While some believe that the ICANN launch has been marred by glitches, the final list of 1930 gTLDs is finally out; something that should leave seasoned domainers feeling quite indifferent.
