Since last week’s report, the rate of expired .XYZ domains has slowed down.
Our previous report showed a loss of about 35,000 domains, but this week the total drop was at 21,794 .XYZ domains.
The number represents a 2.71% loss week-to-week, down from 3.96% of the week prior.
According to data provided by gTLD tallying web site, ntldstats, the total number of .XYZ registrations are currently 996,606.
However, utilizing the zone data numbers paints a more accurate picture of .XYZ, as domains not in the zone files are expired and thus pending deletion.
Using this method, the number of XYZ domains “in the zone” is 803,856.
With thousands of .XYZ domains given away for free by Network Solutions last summer, we’re expecting a more clear picture about .XYZ to be formed in the coming weeks and months.
