We’re launching a new series today, “You’re a dumbass domainer,” dedicated to bidders of domain auctions that are obvious trademarks.
Going after a previously registered domain for its traffic, all while the trademark issues are so prominent, grants the bidder a “domainer dumbass” award.
Starting off with a DropCatch auction for the domain Microsoft-Watch.com. It has 20 bids with 5 hours left to bid, which means that several lemmings are bidding on a domain with the Microsoft brand incorporated.
DOH!
While Microsoft doesn’t have a specific trademark for “MICROSOFT WATCH” its “MICROSOFT” mark is world famous.
There is no possible way to use a domain such as Microsoft-Watch.com in a manner that does not infringe on the famous MICROSOFT mark.
Everyone acknowledges the Microsoft brand and mark, even Apple fanbois!
