GoDaddy wins lawsuit brought forth by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Yet another domain stolen from a GoDaddy account.

Massive legal victory for GoDaddy!

GoDaddy pulled a surprising victory against the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, today, in a decision that dispelled a $30 million lawsuit against the domain registrar.

The cybersquatting case lasted more than five years, and a judge ruled in GoDaddy’s favor.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, District Court Judge Andre Birotte Jr. decided there’s a lack of proof that GoDaddy had a bad faith intent to traffic in trademarks like the “Academy Awards” and “Oscars.”
