Anticipatory shipping: Amazon preorders what you want

Amazon apparently stores huge amounts of data on its customer base, including how they navigate through its pages when debating the purchase of a product.

The analysis of consumer behavior is a lucrative business that can lead to many additional sales and Amazon is just about ready to take advantage of that.

A patent application for “anticipatory shipping” introduces the amazing concept of packaging and actually mailing out an item – before the customer orders it!

This concept speeds up the delivery process, and it’s yet another example of consumerism.

First the drone delivery, then this.

Despite the patent application, Amazon did not anticipate that someone would register the dot .com of the very terms they used.

Could that be a demonstration of failure of the very concept Amazon conceived? 😀

According to DomainTools, AnticipatoryShipping.com was registered on January 18th, at least one day after the news broke out; when we originally checked, the domain was still available.

Could this be a new era of ‘Minority Report’ marketing?
