Chinese domain market report : China is silencing the Internet media

Chinese domain sales report.

Chinese domain sales report.

China‘s current conflicting image to the world, is the byproduct of more than a decade of “Communist Capitalism.

The world’s 2nd largest economy embraces innovation, investment and technology, all while it often stifles free speech and individualism.

It comes as no surprise that by an “executive decision,” the China’s top internet regulator ordered major online companies including Sina Corp. and Tencent Holdings Ltd. to stop original news reporting.

This is the latest effort by the Chinese government to tighten its grip over the country’s web and information industries. Another obvious target is independent news and blogging platforms in China, as the Government wants no competition.

At the same time, the World Domain Conference attracted domain investors from China and the rest of the world, and was very successful. Will there be another one next year, under the circumstances?

That, remains to be seen.
