Hosni Mubarak, former president of Egypt will now work for ICANN.
The former 84-year old Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, is about to be hired at ICANN – according to various progressive domain blogs.
Domain Name Journey states:
“President Mubarak stepped down from his presidential throne to take up an offer by ICANN. His 30 year old reign of Egypt makes him a top candidate for the position of Business Development for Internationalized TLDs at ICANN.”
Wired Domain News adds to the scoop:
“With several WIPO decisions under his belt, Hosni Mubarak will most definitely be a hot commodity for ICANN. Known for fierce, 4-hour speeches addressing his nation of Egypt, Mr. Bubarak will be essentially the spokesperson to the Arab world for the ICANN meetings – a great acquisition by ICANN.”
Independent blogger and full-time businessman, Domain Payne said:
“I wrote about it first, Lucius, don’t try to steal my thunder. It’s all at my blog, I might be an outsider to domains but my business senses *and* sense of humor are paramount. Not to mention, I’m better at love-making.”
The new position for Hosni Mubarak will utilize his unique stature and darkly-dyed hair, in an image that will promote ICANN’s bold strategy in the Arab world.
Instead of being hang by the neck like other dictators such as Saddam Hussein, Hosni Mubarak will now land a seven figure salary at ICANN and gain free access to traveling the world as an ICANN spokesperson.

premium domain names – I think a position with ICANN is the perfect fit for Mubarak. He can talk about policies all day long, not make any decisions and he can ignore the public protests at the forum 😀 No change needed.

With Mubarak’s experience in corruption I’d have thought Oversee would be a better fit.
To celebrate the new revolution , the next domain conference should be in Egypt.

A fine bit of logic expressed there Lucius – I don’t see how anyone could argue against it.
The “Pharaoh” might add a little glamour to the boring little suits and we might end up renaming it as “TutanICANN” or some other fun name.And then we could have some ICANN secret police and torture and switch the Internet on and off and other excitements.
