Hurricane Sandy: Will the .net owners renew?

Hurricane Sandy devastates the East Coast.

As Hurricane Sandycurrently, a tropical storm – hit the East US Coast, millions have been left without power and destruction to property is skyrocketing.

With 17 deaths so far in the US, hurricane Sandy appears to be the most expensive weather system ever to cause damage across the United States. The stock market is closed and it’s scheduled to re-open tomorrow and experts are expecting a huge financial impact, along with possible postponing of the US Elections.

Clearly some problems that president Barack Obama will need to address, in this bad economy, no less.

Meanwhile, the domain name HurricaneSandy.net is set to drop; the domain was registered with GoDaddy in 2008 and was left to expire. We are not sure if the owners plan or even whether they can still renew the domain.

According to top WHOIS tool, DomainTools, the previous owners were pointing it to the Hurricane Law Group, based in Boca Raton, Florida.

All the other major TLDs have already been registered as well, and for several years or months.

If you are currently in the path of the storm, stay safe!
