Last month we raved about the domain auction widget that Francois Carrillo has incorporated on the Domaining.com home page.
The configurable widget can get you the latest information about auctions that end soon on three domain auction venues: Flippa, GoDaddy and Sedo.
Not only you can find some great domain deals by using these options, but we’ll teach you how to identify which venue a domain is listed on, without clicking on it! 😀
We did most of the statistical research for your own benefit.
Here we go!
- Is the domain ending in dot .IO ? Then it’s listed on Flippa, 99% of the time.
- If the domain is priced at $777, or $888 etc. then it’s most certain that it’s for sale on Sedo.
- Is the listing a person’s full name, or very close to a trademark or typo thereof? Head over to GoDaddy!
- For long tail domain listings such as CreateHorseStableProfits.com your surefire winner is Flippa.
- If there are more than 20 bids on it, it’s probably listed on Flippa.
- Is the price more than $1,000 with more than 10 bids? Chances are the domain is listed on Flippa.
- Adult domain? Most like being auctioned on Sedo.
- Is it a .DE domain? Put your money on Sedo being the domain auctioneer.
- If it has “by mail” in the name, or “dicks” then it’s listed on Flippa.
- Is it a LLLL .com domain? Most likely the venue is GoDaddy.
By following this simple guide you will save yourself time and money, as many domain investors adjust their domain bidding strategy based on the auction venue.
Good luck! 😀

Wow! I couldn’t agree. The traits you just mentioned define each auction house.
Thank you for sharing
Salim – Thanks. I suppose you meant to say you couldn’t agree more. 😉
Very funny! 🙂
