The Frager Factor 1 – Hobbyist Blogger 0

The Frager Factor is about domains and controversial financials.

Popular domain blogger “The Frager Factor” announced the acquisition of a domain with “a keyword with 1.5 million page views“.

The domain in question – GodHatesProtesters.com – returns about 23k results in Google when searched with quotes.

It’s also the name of a WordPress blog that researches and publishes photos of protester signs, at GodHatesProtesters.Wordpress.com

In his latest blog post, the God Hates Protesters blogger writes:

This morning I woke up to learn that Owen Frager, “the Chief Innovation Officer of the Frager Creative Group,” registered the domain godhatesprotesters.com.

At that URL — which conveniently redirects to his blog — he writes:

Please note this is an ARTICLE named God Hates Protesters (.com) about a blog called GodHatesProtester.wordpress.com that sends you directly to THAT blog to read the content they admittedly STEAL from other blogs. I registered the domain names (singular and plural) because apparently the blogger didn’t want them, and as a domain investor that seems a shame to me for a keyword that has 1.5 million page views. In essence through this article the domain has been secured and is forwarded to them.

He then grabbed my entire front page and slapped it on his post.

I started this blog two years ago as a hobby. A lot of time was spent searching the web for the best protest signs, linking to the original content providers when possible.

Should I have registered the domain back then? Probably. But, honestly, I just didn’t care that much about it.

So after two years of searching and posting and tweaking, Mr. Frager’s oh-so-kind gesture has made me realize that I’m tired of the whole blogging thing. It was fun, to a point, but it sucks up time and I have a lot of other things going on.

Thank you, loyal readers, for your visits, comments, submissions, and “likes.”

Enjoy your domain, Mr. Frager. I hope you get your money’s worth.

What then follows is an exchange of comments between the blogger, readers of the blog and Owen Frager of The Frager Factor.

We aren’t sure why Owen registered the domain in the first place, as it appears to be of low financial value. However, Owen then proceeds to comment that he’s willing to donate the domain as a gift to the WordPress owner.

Way to go, Owen for doing the right thing 😀
