Frank Bottom “minds his own business” and starts his day by eating a large spoonful of honey and a glass of pure water. Then he takes a walk around the neighborhood of his east Louisville home, greeting every neighbor along the way.
An hour or so later, after a session of light callisthenics, Frank Bottom gets down to business: domain name investments.
The world’s oldest domainer – or dam’ner, as he calls himself – is 107 years old.
“Never knew I’d make it to 107, no way sir!” exclaims Bottom, who still has most of his teeth.
“My daddy died in his forties so who am I do to better? But I done did it and domains are fun!” says the super-centenarian.
On a given day, Frank Bottom registers between two to a dozen domain names, using his earnings from seed funds he accumulated from investing in War World II bonds. A veteran of the battles of the Pacific, Frank Bottom remembers those days quite fondly.
“I miss my buddies, we saw some hell down at Iwo Jima with the japs cutting us like sushi, we survived, I reckon. So domains? I reg a bunch of World War II memorial dotcoms and some about Kentucky, horses and food, and stay away from trademarks”, says Frank Bottom.
By focusing on those domain genres, Frank is able to sell up to a dozen domains every month, and supplements his pension and veteran earnings. His daughter, Emily Jean, hopes that Frank Bottom will carry on his domaining “hobby” for years to come.
“I just love it when Poppy is doing his thing, he’s so precious to watch him type on the ‘puter. So adorable, he is!” exclaims Emily Jean.
No DNJournal listings yet for Frank Bottom, but for a person who started his domain investment business just five years ago, he definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
Why did you post my 10+ years old picture? I am much more handsome today 🙂
Frank – You look great at 97, I hope I look the same at your age. Keep on domaining!
man… i wish id’a started domaining in the 1930’s. think of all the good names ya could’a picked up cheap during the great depression.
RaTHeaD – That’d be impossible to do so in the 1930’s. ICANNt formed in 1948. http://icannt.com
