Facebook launches Graph Search without the .com

No more Facebook for Mike Mann - not for a while.

Facebook launching Graph Search.

Facebook announced the launch of its latest major upgrade, called Graph Search.

The feature is essentially a smart, local search engine that will be able to return meaningful results – searching billions of content items available on Facebook.

The results are personalized and follow the security and privacy features selected by its users.

There is one major snag, however: Facebook does not own GraphSearch.com.

It seems that offers are already pouring in for this domain, that will naturally receive a lot of type-in traffic.

How much would you sell it for?

A week ago this was a reg fee domain, now it will be a popular term. That is the beauty of domains, they can become more valuable at any time through events like this example.

In this case I don’t know if FB really needs the .com though, people will just find the search function on FB where they are anyways. Too early to tell.

Rob – I would not call GraphSearch.com (registered in 1998) a “reg fee” domain. But now, it’s a six figure domain, for sure. 😀

  3. Anthony says:

The domain wont sell for 6 figures but I can see 2-3 years of press releases claiming it is just about to sell for 6 figures.

  4. DomainGang says:

Anthony – Six figures is a drop in a very huge bucket for Facebook. They will come to their senses and buy it. Considering how at the time this article was written it had 10 offers and now it has 23, I see a lot of interest. The owner hit the domain jackpot! 😀

Sedo $60 specials, if facebook wanted it, they would have wrapped it up a long time ago. $10K they could have had it a month ago.

What I do remember is facebook purchasing socialgraph.com for $3K something last year, they used the poor student approach on the down low…
